Thrênoskaìchorós, my new piece for grand-polychord and flute will be premiered on May 10th at the Veliki Tabor Castle in northwest Croatia. The piece was commisioned as part of the symposium "CroArtScia2013 - Asymmetry: Art & Science & Education", which will be held on May 8-11 in Zagreb and at the Veliki Tabor Castle in northwest Croatia.

The Ensemble Platypus will perform the first version of my piece Mutagiróplanos as part of the series of concerts im Banne des Unbekannten (Under the Spell of the Unknown), at Echoraum in Vienna, Austria. Premiere in Chile of Se funde la noche, an experiment based on the respectful manipulation of natural sound material of the environment on the temporal plane.
The piece will be premiered as part of the Festival of Sounding Art Tsonami 2011, which will take place from November 8th to November 12th in Valparaíso, Chile. During these days a special programm will be carried out where pieces of Radio Art, experimental works and Sound Landscape works will be presented. On November 11th from 11pm to midnight (Chilean time - CLST), Se funde la noche will be broadcast by Radio Station Valentín Letelier 97.3 FM, closing the Radio Broadcast Programm of the Festival.

Premiere of Notrain and Outside Interventions I in Connecticut, USA.
Both pieces were composed during the residency at I-Park with sound material taken from the natural environment of the area. In Outside Interventions I, the sounds of nature, the piano and the percussion will be distributed along a trail in the woods with an installation of loudspeakers.
In the concert that will open the 2011 Environmental Art Biennale organized by I-Park, a Lied I wrote in 2009 called Solang der Himmel glüht will also be performed. There will be music from Elise Morris and Nuno Rebelo as well. At the end of the concert dancer Noa Sagie will present a choreography.
Afterwards there will be a site walk along a trail where the work of artists Hannah Bertram, Paul Burn, Jillian May, Mireille Fulpius, Sylvie Bourcy, Misako Inaoka, Mary Ivy Martin, Pedro Marzorati, Nuno Rebelo, Ward Tietz and Kim Waale, will be exhibited. This trail goes through the woods and around the pond.

Residency at I-Park (Connecticut - USA)
During the residency at I-Park I will work on a piece based on sound material taken from the natural environment of the area. Both the live use of this material and the
recording and subsequent edition make up interesting alternatives for the composition. Three types of results may be achieved: acoustic performative, electroacoustic
performative with live electronics or purely acousmatic.
Music studio at I-Park
I-Park is a 450-acre woodland retreat in rural East Haddam, Connecticut, USA. Each of the 10 international artists of diferent fields will get a studio for the time of the residency. The potential of these idyllic surroundings will be reflected in the individual creative process.

In The Realm of the Shadows
Premiere and further performances of my Music Theater piece called
Im Schattenreich (In the Realm of the Shadows). The work will
be presented in the Historical Museum of Saarland, in the casemates of the Castle of Saarbrücken, from Thursday 4th to Saturday 6th of August, twice per
day at 7pm and 9pm.
The music develops around an idea of Bernd Reutler who inspired by the work of sculptor Janine Kortz-Waintrop, introduced me to a selection of texts: Aeschylus,
Borges, Camus, Dante, Goethe, Plato and Striggio. The texts are recited integrally in the piece and make up it's central axis: death.
Within the casemates under the Castle of Saarbrücken, music and text from Im Schattenreich are complemented with sculptures from
Janine Kortz-Waintrop and video sequences made by visual artist Melanie Windl.
For the double premiere on August 4th at 19pm and 21pm as part of the festival Saarbrücker Sommermusik 2011, the admission is free. For further performances the
admission costs €10,-.

Premiere of Rêvecinq
The German Ensemble Grenzpunkt, conducted by Jonathan Kaell, will bring my quintet Rêvecinq to the stage. The concert will take
place at the Stiftskirche St. Arnual in Saarbrücken, Germany, on Friday, January 21st at 7pm. Rêvecinq was commissioned by Ensemble Grenzpunkt with the sponsorship of the
SKE - Austromechana.
The piece germinates from the study of the music of three icons of French composition: François Couperin (1668-1733), Claude Debussy (1862-1918) and Pierre Boulez (1925-). Such study crystallizes in my piece both in the concrete musical material, like harmony and melodic articulation, and at the level of the syntax. The piece has nevertheless its own character, with returning suggestive passages, which emerge from the structure, and an irregular but comprehensible form.

Raquispürún will be premiered by the Maris-Ensemble, who comissioned the piece, at the town hall of the City of Saarbrücken, Germany.
The conception of the sextet is inspired in elements of the ritualistic dance of the Mapuche people, natives of southern Chile. As for us here in Europe, dance is for them a ritual, in which repetition plays an important role. "Pürún" means "dance" in Mapudungun, the language of the Mapuche people, while "raquis" comes from the Greek ῥάχις and it refers to the concept of "spine" or "backbone". But my piece isn't a dance in a traditional way, although the audience is warmly invited to stand up and dance freely to the music. This unusual "backbone dance" occurs in the sound context of a symmetric harmony with a character rich in contrasts, sometimes quite aggressive and sometimes extremely gentle.
The concert is part of the Saarbrücker Sommermusik Festival and will begin at 8pm of Wednesday, September 15th. Admission is free.

Lecture: Symmetric Relations between Colors and Sounds
Is there a universal correlation between colors and sounds? Researchers have been dealing with this issue for a long time. Motivated by the
color-realization of Russian composer Alexander Skrjabin and in search for universality, I held a lecture about Color-Sound Analogies
as part of the 8th International Congress Symmetry: Art & Science of the International Society for the Interdisciplinary Study of Symmetry.
I take the path of objectivity and refer chiefly to the object itself, thus sacrificing all aesthetic criteria and artistic relevance. This doesn't mean that the exposed information can't be of great value for aesthetic analyses and creative work. Based on the abstraction which numbers build as a bridge between incompatible phenomena, I set up the symmetric frequency relations between sound waves and light waves.
The congress took place in the city of Gmünd in Carinthia, south Austria from the 23rd to the 28th of August. My presentation was on Friday, August 27th. More information: Symmetry: Art & Science.

Premiere of Ex-Urbe at "Music Reloaded", an Electroacoustic Music Concert that we made in the Church-Museum Schlosskirche in Saarbrücken, Germany. Ex-Urbe is a piece for viola, electric guitar, trombone, cello and prepared quadraphonic electronics where, appart from traditionally written music, diverse kinds of controlled improvisation take place. The place was full! And there were some who actually laughed, as the recorded robotic voice said: "Ende der Nachrichten".

Premiere of Transfiguraciones de Calostro at the Landesakademie für musisch-kulturelle Bildung in Ottweiler, Germany. In Transfiguraciones de Calostro I placed particular emphasis on the spatialization of the musical elements. The piece was conducted by Jonathan Kaell and played by students from the Music University of Saarland.

Premiere of Vital at the Museum of Saarland in Saarbrücken, Germany. Vital is a Music-Theater piece where the trombonist (Michael Hupperts), who finds himself surrounded by 8 live controlled speakers, plays his instrument in the most unusual fashions and acts interacting with the variety of audio signals that come out of the speakers. The musician in charge of the live-electronics (me) builds an each time different spatialization with pre-recorded material and audio being recorded live during the performance, creating a musical richness in time and space, offering music interrelations for the public to discover and enjoy.
The piece is divided in five parts:

2. Introspection (adolescence)
3. Dialogue (youth)
4. Memories (adulthood)
5. Death (old age)
