1980 - 1998
I grew up in Santiago de Chile, a 6 million people city in the middle of a quite isolated country between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes mountains.
I went to school there and as a child I learnt to play the piano and the clarinet. Later as a teenager my passion was the electric bass, so I learnt to play the bass and took part in many school-bands as a bassist. At the same time I taught myself to play the guitar and started writing my own songs, sometimes at the piano, sometimes with the guitar.
1999 - 2003
I studied Composition at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile with Chilean composers Alejandro Guarello, Pablo Aranda and Aliosha Solovera. During this period of time I wrote my first "new music" pieces.
In parallel I formed and played in several bands. In 2003 I formed the studio team Fantoche and we recorded some of my songs.
2004 - 2009
I moved to Germany and persued postgraduate studies in composition with composer Theo Brandmüller at the University of Music of Saarland, in Saarbrücken. In these years I kept on writing chamber music and songs, but started doing some jazz as well. In 2007 I studied jazz-guitar as a subsidiary subject with guitarist Frank Wingold for 2 years.
In 2008 I formed the duo Guion in which I was the composer and guitarist.
Present
I am living in Austria. I came to Vienna to begin a Ph.D. in Philosophy of Music with Prof. Dr. Werner Schulze at the Institute for Music Analysis, Theory and History of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
